If you forgot to get your flu shot this winter, it’s not too late to get inoculated against this season’s strand. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), flu season typically hits its peak in January and February, but can continue as late as May. The CDC recommends that everyone six months of age and older receive the flu shot. It’s the best protection against seasonal flu. In addition, be sure to avoid close contact with sick people; stay home when you are sick; cover your mouth and nose; wash your hands often; and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Be sure to take extra precautions with your overall health by cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, getting plenty of rest, staying active, eating healthfully, staying hydrated and managing stress.
